Mother of Texas school shooter was in disbelief about son shooting grandmother, boyfriend’s mom says

On Tuesday morning, Salvador Ramos allegedly shot his grandmother in the face, then went to a Uvalde primary school and murdered 19 children and two adults.

According to Maria Alvarez, Ramos’ mother, Adriana Reyes, was in amazement that her son was capable of such violence on Tuesday evening, telling her boyfriend’s mother that she was still hunting for Ramos and didn’t believe the 18-year-old would shoot his grandma.

Juan Alvarez, Maria Alvarez’s son, has been dating Reyes for a year. Following the shooting, Reyes fled to San Antonio with her injured mother, but returned to Alvarez’s home in Uvalde that evening, apparently in shock about the tragedy that had just struck the small town.

“‘I came back because I need to find my son,’ she simply stated. I’m not sure where he is.'” Maria Alvarez spoke with Reyes at her home many hours after the attack, according to Fox News Digital.

According to Alvarez, Ramos’ grandfather, Rolando Reyes, told his daughter that Ramos shot his grandma, but Reyes couldn’t accept it.

“‘I don’t believe my son would do that,’ she remarked. He adored my mother,’ “On Wednesday, Alvarez told Fox News Digital that Reyes was shaking and crying.

Ramos, an 18-year-old Uvalde resident, legally purchased two AR-platform rifles on May 17 and May 20, and bought 375 rounds of ammunition on May 18, Texas Sen. John Whitmire told Fox affiliate KCPQ-TV, citing a briefing from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Alvarez stated that she had never met Ramos, but that Reyes would routinely discuss matters with her son. Since Ramos was expected to graduate from high school this year, she said many of the disputes between the two seem to revolve around school.

Rolando Reyes, the grandfather of Texas school shooting suspect Salvador Ramos, expressed sympathy for the victims of the deadly shooting at Robb Elementary School on Tuesday, which killed at least 19 kids and two teachers.

“I feel for the victims and their families,” Reyes said as he climbed into his car on Wednesday, adding that his now-deceased grandson’s alleged actions on Tuesday made him “unhappy.”
