Nancy Guthrie Update: Car Driver’s Careless Mistake Could Lead to Arrest

Retired detective Jon Buehler has some interesting thoughts on the Nancy Guthrie case. He believes a simple slip up by the person involved might be what finally cracks this mystery wide open.

As the search for Nancy enters its fifth month with still no clear suspects in sight, Buehler sat down with NewsNations Brian Entin to share his take. He worked on the famous Laci Peterson case back in the day with the Modesto Police Department. Now hes pointing to modern tech like vehicle tracking systems and digital search records as potential game changers.

Buehler explained how investigators could dig into things like Google Maps searches. If someone looked up her address ahead of time those records often stick around. They could trace who entered it and why then follow up to see if it lines up with anything suspicious.

Nancy the 84 year old mother of Today show host Savannah Guthrie disappeared from her Tucson Arizona home on February 1. Police think she was taken right from there. Theyve shared doorbell camera video showing a masked person and sent DNA off to the FBI lab but nothing solid has broken yet.

He mentioned that car data could help sort out who had real reasons to be near her place like delivery folks or service workers. Experts have wondered if a local tradesperson spotted an opportunity after learning about her famous daughter and the family connections.

Anybody doing repairs plumbing electrical work or even delivering furniture might have seen a chance for ransom money because of Savannahs public profile Buehler said.

Still he stays optimistic. Cases like this can take time he pointed out recalling one random murder that stayed unsolved for 11 years until a witness finally spoke up. Sometimes its just about waiting for the right moment or the right tip to come through.

Investigators might already have something promising in their pile of leads. They prioritize as best they can but you never know which one will turn out to be the key until it does.

The retired detective keeps hope alive that this one will get solved eventually even if it takes patience from everyone involved.
