New Details on Hayden Panettiere’s Final Moments
New details have emerged about the final moments of Hayden Panettiere’s life. Police officers and EMS personnel responded to reports of an unresponsive female at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina around 1:50 p.m. local time on Sunday August 16. The woman was later identified as the 36 year old actress.
A friend of the Scream star placed the 911 call according to reports citing law enforcement sources. First responders tried to revive her with advanced cardiac life support which involved CPR along with special medicines, breathing tubes and heart rhythm tracking. Chest compressions continued but nothing worked and she was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m.

Dispatch audio obtained by People captured officials discussing an overdose and cardiac arrest around the time of her death. A representative for Panettiere told the outlet they did not have additional information at that point but it was looking as though that was the case.
The Greenville Police Department and Greenville County Coroner’s Office are investigating. A police spokesperson said the preliminary investigation has not indicated any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances and confirmed that an acquaintance of Ms. Panettiere placed the 911 call. Officials have stated the official cause of death will not be released until after an autopsy.
Panettiere began her career as a child on the ABC soap opera One Life to Live. She later became known for major roles in Heroes, Nashville and the Scream franchise. She leaves behind her 11 year old daughter Kaya who she shared with former fiancé Wladimir Klitschko.
