Not being taught about credit
While our education is so important for growing into successful adults, kids these days need to learn the value of having good credit. This is something that often isn’t taught in school. We might take a course of basic money management, but we aren’t given or taught the importance of having good credit. Kids these days are getting credit cards with extremely high interest rates. They max these cards out nearly as quickly as they get them and without knowing, they’re starting the vicious cycle of credit card debt. Once in debt, with these astronomical interest rates, it’s near impossible to rise above it. Not only should the importance of carrying good credit stem from school, it is ultimately the parents responsibility to teach these lessons within the home. Setting good examples is essential to raising our kids in this generation the benefits of clean credit and a debit free lifestyle.
