Peter Burns was left bankrupt after undergoing over 300 cosmetic surgery

Peter Burns was born on August 5, 1959, in the small village of Port Sunlight near Liverpool, England. 

His mother Evelina Maria Bettina Quittner von Hudec was always supportive and wanted him to pursue any career of his choice. He was their only child.

Initially, Pete wanted to be a doctor but he loved painting and was in love with cartoons.

Burns said in the book Europe’s Stars of ’80s Dance Pop: 32 International Music Legends Discuss Their Careers, “[My mother] had me when she was 51 years old, which was very unusual in 1959. I wasn’t put in school until I was seven years old because my mother thought it was more important to let me have freedom of expression (much against my father’s will) than to know when the Battle of Hastings took place or when Henry VIII married. She was very troubled, especially when she found out her father had been [killed].”

Her mother was aging and was declining in health, but she made sure to always be there for Pete.

Pete wrote in his autobiography Freak Unique, “I couldn’t possibly have wished for a better friend. She gave me the power to dream, the power to remove myself from where I might not be having any fun, and go inside my head and be somewhere else.”

Pete loved fashion from a young age and when he started wearing heels, earrings and dying his hair and makeup he had to drop out of school at the age of 14 as he wasn’t welcomed there any longer.

He loved dressing up in drag.

Pete wrote in The Guardian in 2007, “I have never had a reason to separate gender. I’ve had two very powerful people in my life, my ex-wife Lynn, and my husband Michael, and that’s it. Everyone’s in drag of some sort, I don’t give a f**k about gender and drag. I’m not trying to be a girl by putting on a dress – gender is separated by fabric. I was brought up with an incredible amount of freedom and creativity. Society has put certain constraints on things.”

He got to be famous after his band Mystery Girls was dissolved and music magazines wanted to have features and interviews with him.

In 1980 he found the band Dead or Alive after releasing with his band Nightmares in Wax.

His new band released their debut album, Sophisticated Boom Boom in 1984, and a year after released their second album, Youthquake and they were all a huge success.

Pete was becoming famous and he thought he needed to look good and resorted to plastic surgery.

Due to the repeated procedures he went through, he got an infection on his face and lips.

He once passed away after undergoing a lip augmentation and had to be rushed to a hospital.

He was addicted to plastic surgery and soon went bankrupt because of it.

Sadly, the singer passed away on October 23, 2016, after a massive heart attack. The cause of his death was blood clots in his lungs. May he keep resting in peace.
