Prince William and Kate’s 2025 Christmas Card Gets Mixed Reactions from Fans

Family photos on Christmas cards are always a nice tradition, especially for the royals who share a little glimpse into their lives each year. This time around, when Prince William and Princess Catherine released their 2025 card, people noticed something right away that got everyone talking.

The royal family has been doing this for years—King Charles, William, and even Harry used to share these holiday snaps that mix big events with more personal moments.

It all goes back pretty far, with old handmade cards from Queen Victoria’s kids still around, but the official photos really kicked off with King George VI and the Queen Mother. Nowadays, it’s a sweet way for them to spread some cheer and feel a bit closer to everyone.

The latest card from the Wales family dropped on their social media, and it’s this lovely shot of them all together.

You see William and Catherine sitting in a grassy spot in Norfolk, with flowers blooming around them and the kids—George at 12, Charlotte at 10, and little Louis at 7—cuddled up close. Charlotte’s leaning her head on her dad’s shoulder, grabbing his arm, while Louis is snuggled against him. Catherine has her arm around George, and they’re all smiling softly at the camera. The card just says:

“Wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas.”

Not Everyone’s Feeling the Holiday Vibes

A lot of people loved how warm and close the family looks, but others weren’t so sure it screamed “Christmas.”

Someone commented straight up: “Where’s the Christmas spirit?”

Another said something like, “It’s beautiful, but not really seasonal, is it? The kids grow up so quick—I’d love a fresher photo.”

A few even wondered about editing: “Is there more photoshop here? Can’t quite see Catherine’s legs, and William looks like he’s only got one.”

Others pointed out there wasn’t anything wintry or festive, and one noted, “That photo’s from April.”

Someone else added, “It’s nice, but I’d really love a proper wintery Christmas shot one of these years…”

The thing is, the picture was snapped back in April by Josh Shinner, during the same session they used for George’s 12th birthday and Louis’s 7th.

It’s not the first time their card has sparked chatter. Last year’s had that animated snowy effect, and it came out around the time Catherine shared her video about finishing chemo after her 2024 diagnosis.

Looking Ahead After a Tough Year

This card comes after what was a really difficult time for them. William called 2024 “brutal” in interviews, and Catherine announced early this year that she’s fully recovered and in remission from cancer. They’ve kept things low-key mostly since her diagnosis.

William told The Times it was the hardest year of his life. Now, with her in remission since January, it feels like they’re turning a new page.

They’ve even moved into Forest Lodge, a big cozy home in Windsor Great Park, as a fresh start. Catherine just hosted her fifth Together at Christmas carol service, shining a light on people who help others in their communities.

Holiday Plans with the Family

William, Catherine, and the kids are heading to Sandringham for Christmas Day with King Charles and Queen Camilla, like usual.

The King and Queen shared their card earlier, on December 7—a photo from April in Rome celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary, with a classic red border and the message:

“Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year.”
