Prince William’s Quiet Swipe at Harry and Meghan on Graham Norton Sparks Fresh Royal Rift Drama
Prince William hasn’t exchanged words with his younger brother Prince Harry in years, and Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent decision to move back to the UK has done nothing to close the gap. The Duke of Sussex keeps saying he wants to fix things. William’s answer, at least in public, remains silence.
Harry told GQ he hopes the relationship can still be repaired. “Some people don’t want it to work out. I want it to work out. With everything else that’s going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile – that’s the key point,” he said. He added that scars last, but how you choose to see them matters. “Letting go of the past, that’s something that I would encourage everybody to do.”

Royal experts say William has no interest in answering in public. One told Page Six the future king’s silence itself is the response, and that being lectured about reconciliation by the person he believes caused the problem only makes things worse.
William took a different route last week when he made a surprise appearance on The Graham Norton Show. It was his first time on the programme and the first time a working royal has sat on a British chat-show sofa. The episode focused on his Earthshot Prize, and viewers noted how relaxed and funny he seemed. He talked about once wanting to be a DJ and how his children love Celebrity Traitors.

One royal commentator thinks a short exchange at the start of the interview carried a quiet message. Graham Norton asked how he should address the prince. William answered, “Whatever suits.” Norton said he would go with William. William said that was good. Norton then joked, “The prince is silent.”
Charlotte Griffiths, editor-at-large at the Daily Mail, told News24 she read the moment as a slight dig at Harry and Meghan’s continued use of royal titles. She pointed out that Harry still refers to himself as prince, that their children are called prince and princess, and that Meghan uses Duchess and HRH. Griffiths said she did not know if she was reading too much into it, but the easy “whatever suits” reply felt deliberate. She added that William came across as genuine and relatable, and that the appearance was a treat for viewers.
