Remembering Isabelle Tate: ‘9-1-1: Nashville’ Star Passes Away at 23

It’s heartbreaking news out of the entertainment world—Isabelle Tate, the young actress who made her debut as Julie in the premiere episode of 9-1-1: Nashville, has passed away at just 23 years old. According to her obituary, she died on October 19, though details about the cause haven’t been shared publicly.

Hailing from Tennessee, Isabelle was known for her vibrant spirit and love for animals. She poured her heart into volunteering and always aimed to make a positive impact on the world.

Her obituary paints a picture of someone full of determination: “Isabelle was full of fire, a fighter, never once making excuses for the fact that she might have a disability relative to others.” Music was another big passion—she’d spend hours jamming with friends, writing songs, and even releasing a few tracks.

What really stood out about her was how much she cherished time with loved ones. Her sister was her absolute best friend, and her mom was like a guiding light in her life. She was always the one lighting up the room at gatherings, bringing that infectious energy wherever she went.

Her co-star from 9-1-1: Nashville, Hunter McVey, shared a touching tribute with us on October 23. He recalled being nervous on set, especially since it was one of his first big days filming. “I was shocked to hear the news,” he said. “I didn’t know Isabelle before we worked together, but she was incredible to collaborate with. After each take, we’d chat a bit, and her words were always so encouraging. Talking to her afterward, you could just feel her positive vibe—she clearly brought joy to everyone around her. I’m grateful I got to share the screen with her, and it’s comforting knowing her performance in the pilot will keep her memory alive. Sending prayers to her family.”

Isabelle’s agency, the McCray Agency, posted an emotional message on Instagram too: “We’re absolutely devastated to announce that Isabelle Tate passed away on October 19 at 23. I’ve known Izzy since her teen years, and she’d just jumped back into acting. This was the first show she auditioned for, and she nailed it with 9-1-1: Nashville. She had such a blast on set.”

Back in 2022, Isabelle opened up on Instagram about living with a progressive neuromuscular disease, diagnosed when she was only 13. It affected her leg muscles over time, leading her to use a wheelchair. She was candid about the struggles: “This has been a tough road for me, accepting help and dealing with how it’s progressing—it’s been really hard.” She admitted it took a toll not just physically but emotionally too, saying she felt like she was losing parts of herself. But she turned it around: “I never saw this coming, like most people wouldn’t. I can’t change the hand I was dealt, so I’m choosing to embrace it and not let it define who I am.”

9-1-1: Nashville premiered on October 9, and Isabelle shared the spotlight with big names like LeAnn Rimes and Chris O’Donnell. In her scene, her character Julie gets a fun moment with McVey’s character Blue during a striptease, after dealing with some rude comments about her wheelchair.

Before stepping into acting, Isabelle studied at Middle Tennessee State University, earning a bachelor’s in business. She leaves behind her mom, Katerina Kazakos Tate; stepdad, Vishnu Jayamohan; dad, John Daniel Tate; and sister, Daniella Tate.
