Robert Duvall’s Eerie Trump Prediction Revealed After His Death at 95

The legendary actor Robert Duvall passed away on Sunday at the age of 95, right at his home in Middleburg, Virginia, surrounded by his family. It’s hard to believe one of Hollywood’s true greats is gone—he left behind a legacy that’s tough to match. His wife, Luciana Pedraza, broke the news with a touching statement that really captures who he was to those closest to him.

“To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything,” she wrote, sharing a sweet photo of the two of them outdoors with a horse. She went on to say his dedication to every role came from a real love for the characters and the human stories they told, leaving something timeless behind for all of us.

Luciana added her thanks to everyone who supported him over the years and asked for privacy as they remember the good times.

Duvall wasn’t one to chase the spotlight outside of acting. He loved his horses—he ran a farm for years and was a real horseman at heart—plus cooking and tango dancing. Politics? He kept it low-key for the most part, but he was a lifelong conservative.

Back in 2014, he opened up a bit in an interview with The Daily Beast about how messy things felt. His wife, from Argentina, called herself a “tree-hugging Republican,” but he joked she might even go Democrat because the party was such a mess. He said he’d probably vote Independent himself, quoting something like Jack Kerouac about loving the country despite its flaws. He threw in some thoughts on history, like how the movie The Butler got things wrong on JFK’s civil rights record, and how the South’s old atrocities tied back to Democrats in a way that’s flipped now. He believed in a woman’s choice on certain issues too—he wasn’t lockstep with anyone.

What’s got people talking now is something that came up after his passing. Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, who knew Duvall and chatted with him about movies and politics a few times, shared a memory on Facebook. He described Duvall as down-to-earth and just a genuinely nice guy.

In a photo from early 2016, Patrick said Duvall straight-up guaranteed that Donald Trump would win the presidency that year. At a time when almost everyone had Hillary Clinton as the heavy favorite—polls, experts, betting odds—Duvall called it for Trump. Patrick remembered the conversation vividly and noted Duvall was a solid conservative.

Looking back, it feels almost uncanny how spot-on that prediction was. Rest in peace, Robert Duvall—what a career, and what a life. If you’ve got a favorite role or memory of his work, feel free to share below.
