The Childhood Prince Louis and His Siblings Are Enjoying – One Their Dad Never Got

It’s that time of year again – back-to-school season for Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and little Prince Louis. On September 3, the kids of Prince William and Kate Middleton headed back to Lambrook School, and this will be their final year all under the same roof there.

Big changes are on the horizon for the Wales family, including a move later this year. But through it all, Prince William has one clear goal: making sure his children have the absolute best upbringing possible. It’s about giving them the kind of normal, stable childhood he missed out on growing up.

Over the summer, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis kept a low profile with their parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton. We don’t have all the details on their adventures, but odds are they soaked up plenty of time at their cozy country retreat, Anmer Hall in Norfolk. George and Charlotte even tagged along with Mom and Dad to the Wimbledon finals in July – a real treat for them. Louis, at just 7 years old and fourth in line to the throne behind his dad and siblings, is still a bit too young for that scene. His most recent public outing was at a church service in late August up in Crathie, Scotland, near Balmoral Castle.

Before that, the whole family turned out for Trooping the Colour in July, and as usual, Louis stole the spotlight with his cheeky personality and funny faces – he’s got a knack for that in pretty much every appearance.

With summer wrapped up, William and Kate are gearing up to dive back into their royal responsibilities. The kids are settled into school, but this year’s a milestone: it’s the last one where they’ll all be at Lambrook together. Come next year, when George hits 13, he’s expected to head off to Eton College.

William’s Push for a Childhood He “Never Had”

How much does young George really grasp about his destiny – being second in line to the throne? That’s anyone’s guess. But according to royal expert and ex-BBC correspondent Jennie Bond, William and Kate are holding off as long as they can on spilling the beans about the nitty-gritty of their kids’ future roles.

They’ve taken notes from Prince Harry’s dramatic departure from royal life, where he famously called himself the “spare.” William doesn’t want his own children slotted into rigid categories based on birth order – no way.

“William’s all about building a rock-solid, private family bubble – the sort he never experienced as a kid,” Jennie Bond shared with GB News. “He’s set on keeping things grounded for them.”

“He’s charting his own course here, what he calls ‘royalty with a small r,’” she added, noting that snagging a “forever” home like Forest Lodge fits right into that mindset.

Forest Lodge might not ring a bell for a lot of royal watchers. So why mention it? Well, it’s about to get a lot more attention because William and Kate are ditching Adelaide Cottage for this new spot on the Windsor estate.

Saying Goodbye to Adelaide Cottage

The family settled into Adelaide Cottage back in August 2022. But after some tough stretches – especially with Kate’s cancer diagnosis and treatment – they’re ready for a change and a fresh start.

“Windsor’s really become their base now. That said, the past couple of years at Adelaide Cottage haven’t been easy – some really rough patches,” a royal insider told the BBC in mid-August.

They explained that shifting to the eight-bedroom Forest Lodge (a step up from their current four-bedroom setup) offers a chance to “kick off a new chapter and put some of those tougher memories in the rearview.”

On top of that, William and Kate view Forest Lodge as their long-term pad – the place they’ll call home even when they step up as king and queen someday. Just like at Adelaide Cottage, they won’t have live-in staff; it’s all about keeping things intimate and private. And they’re footing the bill for any renovations themselves.

What do you reckon – are Prince William and Kate on the right track by opting for a more down-to-earth, “normal” way of raising their kids instead of the old-school royal vibe? Drop your thoughts in the comments on Facebook and share this piece!
