Breakthrough Country Music Legend Has Died

According to recent reports, coal miner’s daughter and revolutionary country music queen Loretta Lynn has died.

90 years old when she passed away, the country singer. According to NBC News, Loretta Lynn’s family released a statement to confirm her passing.

The family released a statement in which they wrote, “Our lovely mom, Loretta Lynn, passed away peacefully this morning, October 4th, in her sleep at home in her beloved ranch in Hurricane Mills,” before requesting privacy while they grieved.

According to NBC News, Loretta, who is regarded as the Queen of country music, was born in Butcher Hollow, Kentucky, as the second of her family’s eight children. She rose to fame most notably for her 1970 hit song Coal Miner’s Daughter.

In 2018, Lynn said to Jenna Bush Hager that she “writes about my life” in every song she has ever written. According to NBC, Coal Miner’s Daughter was written as a tribute to her father, Melvin Webb, who passed away in the 1950s from black lung disease.

Lynn continued to speak to Hager, “I would have given the world if (my father) had been here when I recorded ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter,’ but I think he hears me. And I’ll sing it for him one day.

As her career progressed, Lynn won four Grammys, a Kennedy Center honour in 2003, and a Presidential Medal of Freedom ten years later. In 1972, she also became the first woman in history to receive the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year award.
