Trump Admits Hilarious Autocorrect Fail: Why His Phone Kept Changing Melania to ‘Melody’
Donald Trump and Melania have been married for more than twenty years now. Yet every so often when he texts her something sweet it seems she might wonder if it was really meant for someone else. At a recent event honoring military mothers the president shared a pretty funny story about his phone habits and how autocorrect kept turning his wife’s name into something completely different.
Trump and Melania tied the knot back on January 22 2005 at Bethesda by the Sea church in Palm Beach Florida. The guest list was packed with big names like Elton John Arnold Schwarzenegger and even Hillary and Bill Clinton who would later become political opponents. It was Melania’s first marriage but Trump’s third after his earlier unions with Ivana and Marla Maples.

Life in the spotlight has not always been easy for them. Rumors about trouble in their marriage pop up from time to time especially with their busy schedules keeping them apart sometimes. Still they make time for each other like sharing dinners and bonding over a shared interest in interior design.
During the Mother’s Day themed gathering Trump opened up about a quirky issue with his texting. He admitted that for the longest time his phone’s spell check and autocorrect would change Melania to Melody every single time he tried to type it.
“I love the name Melody because for a long time they have spell correct and word correct and these crazy machines that we use to put out truths” he explained. “Every time I wrote Melania it would correct to Melody. So I do things and I work very fast very fast.”
He went on to say he would send messages praising her as a fantastic First Lady and wishing her Happy Mother’s Day only for autocorrect to swap the name. Without proofreading he would hit send and then face the consequences when the media jumped on it. The crowd at the event burst into laughter as he described how people started saying he did not even know his own wife’s name.
“He keeps calling her” Trump recalled the critics saying. “And I said What the hell is wrong with this machine? I did not know about that little feature but I got that corrected eventually.”
He wrapped it up by noting that Melania had been called Melody quite a bit before he fixed the issue. “I had to explain it to you this way” he told the audience with a grin. “I stood up here to explain it to you. I apologize.”
The clip quickly spread online and reactions poured in. Some folks found the whole thing hilarious and relatable while others were not so convinced. Comments ranged from jokes about who this Melody person might be to explanations about how autocorrect actually works and learns from your habits. One user put it simply: Autocorrect is the worst.
It was a lighthearted moment from the president that showed even someone as busy as him deals with everyday tech frustrations just like the rest of us.
