Savannah Guthrie Abruptly Leaves Today Show Amid Missing Mother Nancy Search
Savannah Guthrie had to step away right in the middle of the show the other day. It happened about an hour and a half into the May 6 episode of Today when she quietly left her spot on the couch. Her co host Craig Melvin stepped in and let everyone know she had to head out a little early but promised she would be back the next day.
No one has said exactly why she left and the team reached out for more details but nothing came back yet. She is 54 now and only returned to the show in April after taking a couple months off to be with her family while they deal with the tough situation around her mom Nancy.

Nancy who is 84 was reported missing from her home in Arizona back on February 1. Police think someone took her from the house after they found video from a doorbell camera showing a masked person coming up and messing with it.
Savannah along with her brother Camron and sister Annie have put out several public messages asking for help to bring their mom home safely.
She has spoken openly about the pain her family is going through. In one interview she told her old co host Hoda Kotb that someone needs to do the right thing because they are all in agony and it feels unbearable. She even shared how she wakes up at night thinking about what her mom might be facing and how those thoughts just have to be faced.
At the same time she is holding onto hope saying she still believes and does not know exactly who she will be through all this but she will keep going.

Savannah and her siblings have been cleared by police as any possible suspects yet she has pushed back hard on any rumors that her family could be involved calling it something that just adds more pain on top of the pain they already feel. She made it clear that no one cared for their mom better than her sister and brother in law and her brother protected her more than anyone. To her Nancy is the shining light of the family the matriarch and everything they have.
Here is more on the full timeline of what happened with Nancy.
Nancy was last seen by her family at her place in Tucson around 9:30 at night on January 31.
A friend noticed she did not show up for church the next morning and reached out which led the family to search the property before calling police around noon on February 1 to report her missing. Sheriff Chris Nanos got involved right away with homicide detectives because something about the scene stood out as very concerning.
They later declared the home a crime scene after processing it and said they believe a crime happened there. Nancy has limited mobility and could not walk far on her own so they knew she did not just leave by herself.
The sheriff also shared that she needs daily medication to survive and without it things could turn bad fast. He described her as sharp minded with no dementia issues just age related physical limits. The family and investigators are urging anyone with any information no matter how small to call it in right away.
Savannah broke her silence soon after with a statement thanking people for the support and prayers while keeping the focus on getting Nancy home safe. Her Today family also spoke up with lots of love and calls for the community to help.

Police have said there is no active threat to the public but they are still working hard on every angle. They confirmed they believe Nancy was taken against her will possibly in the middle of the night.
Savannah put out an emotional plea on social media talking about faith in prayer and goodness and humanity. She asked everyone to join in believing for her moms safe return and even shared a Bible verse about perfect peace for those who trust.
DNA evidence was collected from the home and more details came out about the timeline including when the camera disconnected and her pacemaker app lost connection. The search continues with hope still alive that she will be found safe.
The whole situation is heartbreaking and the family keeps pushing for answers while staying strong together.
