Nancy Guthrie Missing: Sheriff Gives Major Update as 100-Day Mark Approaches
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is still all in on finding Nancy Guthrie as the search heads toward the 100-day mark. They just put out a fresh update reminding everyone that this case remains wide open and very active.
“The Pima County Sheriff’s Department remains fully committed to the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance,” the office told Us Weekly on Monday. “This is an active and ongoing investigation, and we continue to work closely with our partners at the FBI.”

They added that DNA testing and video analysis are moving forward with help from labs all over the country. New technology is playing a big role too, and fresh tips keep coming in for investigators to chase down. Anyone with even a small piece of information is being asked to reach out to 88-CRIME or the FBI tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI. As they put it, even the tiniest detail could turn out to be important.
Savannah Guthrie’s mom has now been missing for three full months. Tuesday, May 12 will mark exactly 100 days since Nancy was taken from her home in Tucson, Arizona on February 1. She was reported missing by a family member not long after, and it quickly came out that she has a pacemaker and relies on daily medication to stay alive. Her device also stopped connecting to her Apple Watch the same night she vanished.
A few days into the search the FBI released grainy black-and-white footage from Nancy’s doorbell camera. It shows a person wearing a ski mask standing on her porch right around the time she disappeared. So far no suspect has been publicly named.
Savannah and the rest of the family have raised the reward for Nancy’s safe return all the way to one million dollars. Nancy was mother to three kids, including Savannah, Annie, and Camron, with her late husband Charles who passed away back in 1988.
Savannah stepped away from co-anchoring the Today show for a couple of months while all this was unfolding. She made her return on April 6. In an emotional chat with Hoda Kotb earlier this year she opened up about the guilt she’s been carrying.
“I said, ‘Do you think it was because of me?’ And my brother Camron said, ‘I’m sorry, sweetie, but yeah, maybe,’” she recalled through tears. “But I knew that. I hope not. We still don’t know anything. Honestly we don’t know anything.”
She went on to say it’s almost too painful to imagine that her own fame might have put her mom in danger. “It’s just too much to bear to think that I brought this to her bedside.”
Through it all Savannah has leaned hard on her faith. Back on February 2 she posted on Instagram, “We believe in goodness. We believe in humanity. Above all, we believe in Him. Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment. We need you.”
