Attitude Changes Your Life

Attitude

The dictionary describes attitude as this: “a settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, typically one that is reflected in a person’s behavior.” If we were to only look at this definition, we can see that your attitude plays a vital role in what happens in your life and the way it affects you. Your attitude can be the difference of having a great life or having one that is full of strife and sadness. Exploring the different facets of your attitude, how to change it, and how to adjust it, may be just the medicine the doctor ordered. Let’s take a look.

Negativity

Negativity can become a bad habit before you even realize what has happened. Things that happen in your life can cause unhappiness, grief or sadness and leave you feeling out of control. A typical response to things like this is to complain about them. Complaining lets other people know that you aren’t happy. It can be a way to vent initially, but beware, it can take on a life of its own before you realize what is happening. Complaining is negative energy that will only serve to keep you in a negative state of mind.  This will turn your life from vibrant colors into a brown, dim world.

Expectations

Once you have been plagued with bad events that you can’t control, you may start to dread every day and wonder what horrible thing will happen next. Though this is a normal response to the ‘when it rains it pours’ syndrome, it’s definitely unhealthy and is another producer of negative energy. Turning these thoughts off is hard, but adjusting them is easier.  Things happen to people that are unfortunate and unpreventable. People leave, die, disappoint and tragedy can strike without notice. There is also the theory that expecting bad things to happen may actually cause them to continue.

Changing That Attitude

It can be a difficult task to change your attitude, but it can be done in many varying ways that you will hardly notice. Simple steps can make your transition easier with little effort. First and foremost, stop complaining. This is a bad habit that needs to be broken immediately. Take it one day at a time. When you find yourself wanting to tell someone how crappy your life is or something in your life is, resist. Instead tell them something good that has happened, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, use it. It can be anything from how much you enjoyed your first cup of coffee this morning to you bought a new car. Size doesn’t matter, the attitude does.

Making Adjustments

Once you have mastered not complaining, take it one step further, be grateful. Gratitude is one of the highest, positive vibrations that you can accomplish. Take that cup of coffee you enjoyed this morning, wasn’t it delicious? Aren’t you grateful that you were able to enjoy those first sips of the day with nothing but happy feelings? Start noticing every little thing that makes you happy throughout your day. Be grateful that you were given those blessings to warm your heart. If you like the way breakfast smells as it is cooking, take a moment to enjoy it and be thankful. Let nothing pass you by, if it brings you a hint of pleasure, be grateful.

The New You

Believe me when I say that these small changes will amplify the happiness in your life. Other people will notice as well. Your friends and family will say you seem different. People may ask you what the difference is. It’s your vibration, your attitude. You have taken it from a negative, complaining, toxic place to a grateful, happy, new you. You may feel like expanding on these simple steps as you grow, but if you are only able to make these simple changes, your life will improve ten fold. Attitude really is everything. Practice at making yours the best it can possibly be and watch how fast your life changes.
