Barbara Mandrell met her husband when she was just 14: Now shares the secret to their happy and lasting relationship

Barbara Mandrell nicknamed ”The Sweetheart of Steel” was born with music in her veins and free up in Los Angeles. Before she could learn English, she already knew how to read piano notes.

At the age of 11, she sang in a show in Las Vegas and at that moment everyone knew she was born for music.

Barbara was encouraged by her father to make a name in the music industry and he became her manager later in. Barbara and her family moved to Nashville in 1968 and got a record label thereafter.

Barbara met her future husband through her father. Barbara’s dad hired ken to be the drummer of the Mandrell family band and that’s how the couple first met.

Ken was 21 when they met while Barbara was 14. Ken was engaged to another girl by the time they met, they were so much in love with each other and Ken decided to break off the engagement. Four years after the duo met, they got married on May 28, 1967.

The duo was like high school lovers, always with each other at every moment of their life, whether high or low. Barbara focused on her career and Ken served in the Navy as a pilot.

They faced major challenges during these moments as they couldn’t see each other until ken finished his service in Vietnam.

They managed to stay in love together and raise three beautiful children and many often wonder the secret behind their lovely marriage.

She always gave God the credit for their long-lasting relationship and each time they had issues, they always reminded themselves they were married forever.

We aren’t perfect, we are just like other couples in the world, we have our arguing times, heartaches, and moments of hurting each other, she told CBN in 2002.
