Kevin Costner’s true feelings about Whitney Houston

After the movie ”Bodyguard”, Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston formed a special bond.

Sadly, Houston passed away at the age of 48 in 2012 and at that point, Kevin wasn’t so sure of his feelings towards the icon who was his great and good friend.

Kevin Costner has long roots in acting and he is so good at what he does. He got started in Dancing with Wolves, Robin Hood, The Untouchables and The Bodyguard, and a list of others. At the age of 65, one might think he has nothing to offer the industry any longer, but the iconic actor is a producer and a director.

Kevin Costner was a star in the industry, but Whitney Houston was more than his equal. Whitney produced a lot of hit albums and rose to international prominence in the 1980s. Her song I will always love you was a major hit and during the shooting of the Bodyguard, Whitney and Kevin got pretty close and became great friends until her tragic passing away in 2002.

During her burial, Kevin Costner read a tribute that left everyone with wet eyes and that’s when he revealed his true feelings for his great friend and colleague.

Whitney Houston was born in 1963 and Kevin Costner was already 8 at that time. Whitney was more interested in writing poems and singing when she was younger and was already interested in creative work from high school.

Kevin majored in business at California State University and took acting classes a week.

“As I approached my senior year, I had a real talk with myself about what I wanted to do and whether I just wanted to please other people,” Costner told Rolling Stone.

“And it was at that moment that I said to myself, ‘I’m interested in storytelling.’”

Kevin started getting small roles in 1981, the pay wasn’t fat, but that was a good start and after that, he went on to get major roles.

Whitney and Kevin seemed to have the show business under their feet as they were both successful.

Whitney made her acting debut in ”The Bodyguard” even though it didn’t suit many and Kevin went under fire for choosing a black American woman as his pair.

“I didn’t realize in Bodyguard when I wanted Whitney to play that that was such a brave move,” Costner said. “It didn’t seem to me to be a brave move at all. I thought she was the cutest girl I’ve ever seen.”

The movie was a hit and Whitney was doing so well in the music industry too. She died of drug addiction and during her burial, Kevin revealed he feels like he let her down.

“I let her down, I should have been there and I wasn’t and now for the rest of my life, I will have to live with that pain. I saved her then, I should have saved her now,” he said in a statement, according to Daily Mail.

“She was my one true love. I still have I Will Always Love You as my ringtone and I count it as a badge of honor every time I get mocked for it.”
