Kid Rock Mocked for Lip-Syncing During TPUSA All American Halftime Show

The Seattle Seahawks took care of business on the field, beating the New England Patriots 29-13 at Levi’s Stadium, but the real drama played out off the gridiron this Super Bowl Sunday.

While the official NFL halftime show featured global star Bad Bunny lighting up the stage, a bunch of viewers flipped over to Turning Point USA’s alternative event—the so-called “All-American Halftime Show.” It was pitched as a more patriotic, conservative-leaning option, with sets from Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett leading up to the headliner: Kid Rock.

The 55-year-old rocker wrapped things up, but almost right away, people started noticing something off. As soon as he hit the stage for “Bawitdaba,” the comments rolled in accusing him of lip-syncing.

One person straight-up wrote, “Nice lip syncing.” Another asked, “Did Kid Rock just badly lip sync through his song? Or was my stream messed up?” And it kept going: “So was that a bad lip sync job by Kid Rock? Or was my stream messed up? Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

Some were even more blunt. “Did Kid Rock do like a minute of lip sync and dip, LOL?” Or: “It was a minute of lip sync and then he dipped.” One viewer summed it up saying, “Bruh, I thought I was gonna see Kid Rock come and slay. He didn’t do anything but play his song and do a funny dance.”

Others roasted the whole thing: “It was a**. Kid Rock came out for 45 seconds to lip sync and drop the mic five times while he was still ‘singing.’” And then there was this gem: “Kid Rock showed up for one minute and lip-synced every third bar from the first verse of ‘Bawitdaba’ while tweaking in jorts and playing with his fedora, then it awkwardly cut to a classical performance.”

The backlash didn’t stop with the performance itself. Old clips and lyrics from years ago started resurfacing online again—like lines from his 2001 song “Cool, Daddy Cool” about liking “young ladies underage,” and that infamous 2001 SNL bit where he made a crude joke about Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen when they were just 14.

People were not holding back: “SO gross!” one said. Another added, “He is a disgusting human being. It’s no wonder the MAGA base loves him.”

That said, not everyone hated it. Some fans were hyped: “Kid Rock busted out ‘Bawitdaba.’ Unbelievable and totally awesome!” And another wrote, “TPUSA halftime performance was worth it. History was made tonight, my friends. Love you, Charlie.”

The livestream reportedly hit around 5-6 million viewers at its peak, though it dipped a bit during Kid Rock’s part. The YouTube replay has since pulled in over 18 million views.

Kid Rock later pushed back on the lip-sync claims, saying it was more of a syncing issue with his DJ during a pre-taped setup—he was “jumping around like a rabid monkey” and the production couldn’t quite fix it perfectly. Still, the internet had already made up its mind, and the memes kept coming. Super Bowl Sunday gave us two very different halftime vibes, and this one definitely stirred up plenty of chatter.
