Lisa Niemi shares heartbreaking words after the death of Patrick Swayze

Patrick Swayze died in 2009 at the age of 59 due to cancer.

The Hollywood star was born in Houston, Texas on Aug 18, 1952. His father, Jesse Swayze worked as a chemical plant engineer draftsman, and his mother, Patsy was the director of the Houston Jazz Ballet Company.

His mother introduced him to dancing which he fell in love with. His mates often teased him for his choice.

He spent a lot of time in his mother’s ballet school and that’s where he met the love of his life, Lisa Niemi.

Before graduating from high school, Patrick was already a professional dancer and got his first job as Prince Charming in Disney on Parade and made his Broadway debut later as Danny Zuko in the original production of Grease.

While attending lessons from Swayze’s mom at the age of 15, Lisa Niemi met Swayze for the first time.

Swayze told People, “If I started putting on a pose or doing my Casanova routine, Lisa would turn away and not say anything, We had a lot of dates in silence.”

As time went by Lisa started developing feelings for him and Swayze wasn’t ready to give up either.

Swayze explained, “I knew she was the smartest chick I’d ever met. [Before Lisa] I had been meeting girls with names like “Mimi” and “Angel”. And for a long time, I didn’t feel like I deserved her.”

The duo fell in love with each other and got married On June 12, 1975.

“The way he looked at her, the way he held on to her, the way she smiled., I can’t imagine one without the other, said Legendary TV host Barbara Walters.

She described their relationship as extraordinary.

They were so in love and had the best time of their life until a tragedy struck them, Lisa had a miscarriage.

The duo always wanted to start a family.

Swayze’s long-time friend and bodyguard Frank Whiteley said, “It broke his heart. He wanted to be a dad more than anything. He had skills, knowledge, kindness, and love – everything a child would want.”

Tragedy struck again when Swayze was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer and was losing a lot of weight in a blink of an eye.

He fought the condition for 2 years and later died on September 14, 2009.

In September 2020, Lisa Niemi, Patrick Swayze’s widow took to her Instagram page to celebrate his death anniversary.

She wrote, “Celebrating a wonderfully strong, sensitive & special man on the 11th anniversary of his passing.

So missed. Can’t help but feel a dark cloud today (and all last week!), but grateful for what we had together. What a journey! Blessed, even with the tears.”
