Melania Trump Demands ABC Fire Jimmy Kimmel Over Offensive ‘Expectant Widow’ Joke
Melania Trump has come out strongly against late-night host Jimmy Kimmel following a joke that many found deeply offensive. Just days before a shocking shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner she attended alongside her husband the president she was the target of his remarks calling her an expectant widow.
The first lady described the comments as hateful and violent. She is now pressing ABC the network behind his show to take real action against what she sees as his atrocious behavior.

On Thursday evening Kimmel was doing his usual bit parodying the upcoming dinner when he said something that crossed a line for the Trumps. “Our First Lady Melania is here. Look at Melania so beautiful. Mrs Trump you have a glow like an expectant widow” he quipped.
Then on Saturday a gunman opened fire at the actual event. Authorities believe the attack may have been aimed at members of the Trump administration. The timing made the earlier joke land even worse.
Melania took to X on Monday to share her thoughts. She wrote that people like Kimmel should not get to come into our homes every evening spreading hate. She called on ABC to take a stand against it all.
“His monologue about my family isnt comedy” she said. “His words are corrosive and deepen the political sickness within America. How many times will ABCs leadership enable Kimmels atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.”

President Trump jumped in too with his own post on Truth Social that same afternoon. He noted how so many people were incensed by the remarks calling them a call to violence. This goes far beyond the pale he added and said Jimmy Kimmel should be fired immediately by Disney and ABC.
The BBC reached out to ABC for any comment but has not heard back yet.
This is not the first time Kimmel has faced backlash and been pulled off air. Last September he made comments about the shooting of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk that got him temporarily sidelined. He later acknowledged that some viewers found his words ill timed or unclear and said he understood why they were upset.
The whole situation has stirred up fresh debates about where comedy ends and harmful rhetoric begins especially in todays charged political climate.
