Savannah Guthrie Returns to Today Show Studio for First Time Since Mom Nancy’s Disappearance
It’s heartbreaking to see a family going through something like this. Savannah Guthrie quietly stepped back into the Today show studio today, March 5, marking the first time she’s been there since her mom, Nancy Guthrie, vanished over a month ago.
A spokesperson for the show shared that Savannah popped in just to be with her colleagues and thank them for all the support they’ve given during this awful time. She didn’t go on air, but the message was clear—she does plan to return to the show eventually. Right now, though, her focus is entirely on her family and doing everything possible to bring Nancy home safely.

Nancy, who is 84, was last seen on January 31 after a family dinner at her home in the Tucson area. The next day, February 1, she didn’t show up for a virtual church service, and that’s when everyone realized something was terribly wrong. Authorities believe she was taken against her will—surveillance from her Nest doorbell camera captured a masked person approaching the door that night.
The investigation is still very active. Just a couple of days ago, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told NBC that the team feels they’re getting closer to figuring out who did this, with plenty of leads and intel to follow up on. The family has stepped up the reward to $1 million for any tip that leads to Nancy’s safe return or the arrest of whoever is responsible. If anyone has information, they can reach out to the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or the Pima County Sheriff’s Office at 520-351-4900.

On Monday, March 2, Savannah visited her mom’s house along with her sister Annie and brother-in-law Tommaso. They added yellow flowers to the growing tribute near the mailbox and shared a heartfelt hug. Savannah posted about it on Instagram, saying how much the love, prayers, and support from neighbors, the Tucson community, and people across the country means to them. She asked everyone to keep praying and hoping—bring her home.
It’s been 33 days now, and the waiting must feel endless. The family is leaning on each other, staying hopeful, and the outpouring of support has been overwhelming. Fingers crossed for good news soon. 💛
