Trump Says ‘I Guess’ Americans Should Worry About Iran Attacks on US Soil

President Donald Trump recently opened up about the ongoing conflict with Iran in a candid interview for Time magazine’s latest cover story, titled “Trump’s War.” When asked if everyday Americans should be concerned about Iran striking back on U.S. soil, he didn’t sugarcoat it.

“I guess,” Trump replied. He went on to say that threats like this are always on people’s minds, adding, “We think about it all the time. We plan for it. But yeah, you know, we expect some things.”

He wrapped up the thought bluntly: “Like I said, some people will die. When you go to war, some people will die.”

This comes just days after a retaliatory drone attack by Iran killed six U.S. service members overseas. The Pentagon identified them as Capt. Cody A. Khork, 35, from Winter Haven, Florida; Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42, from Bellevue, Nebraska; Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39, from White Bear Lake, Minnesota; Sgt. Declan J. Coady, 20, from West Des Moines, Iowa; Maj. Jeffrey R. O’Brien, 45, from Indianola, Iowa; and Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan, 54, from Sacramento, California, who is believed to have been the sixth fatality.

The broader toll in the Middle East has been heavy too, with reports indicating over 1,000 deaths so far, affecting Iran and neighboring areas. Iran’s Red Crescent Society mentioned that relief teams are active across many affected regions.

The comments from Trump, now 79, surfaced in the context of the U.S.-Israel joint military campaign—known as Operation Epic Fury—aimed at degrading Iran’s capabilities. Tensions remain high, especially after recent events like a mass shooting in Austin, Texas, on March 1, where the gunman wore clothing linked to Iran, and authorities are looking into possible terrorism ties.

The full piece in Time dives deeper into the president’s views on the war, the planning, and what might come next. It’s a sobering reminder of the real costs when conflicts escalate like this.
