The Blonde beauty who stole the spotlight- Bo Derek

Bo Derek got her movie breakthrough in 1978 and ever since then, she stole the spotlight. It’s impossible not to notice her blonde hair and clear blue eyes that look so enchanting.

Bo Derek was born in California and her mother was Ann-Margeret a Swedish-American, so it was quite easier for her to get into Hollywood.

She got her first agent when she was 16 and was able to land her first movie role in Once Upon a Love.

During the shooting of the movie at the romantic island of Mykonos, in the Greek archipelago, she met her future husband John Derek.

Bo was only 17 while John was 47 when they fell in love and started a relationship. The age difference was a minor factor while people frowned at their marriage, John was still married to actress Linda Evans and that caused a major scandal.

John divorced Linda not long after.

“I was at least halfway responsible for some serious pain she (Linda Evans) went through. She’d been very gracious and kind … And I just saw her yesterday, funny enough. We were at a jewelry trunk show for charity. And she was just as fabulous and wonderful as ever. I always feel like sh*t when I’m around her. It’s just ingrained, years later,” Bo told Interview Magazine in 2016.

At that time Bo was a minor and they had to flee to Europe and Mexico to avoid age of consent laws in California. They got married two years after when Bo was 19 and John 49.

Bo’s career took off after their marriage, as John always placed her in his movies. She went on to establish herself as one of the most beautiful actresses in Hollywood.

In the movie ‘10‘, her cornrow-style, blonde braids, weren’t left unnoticed and it was all her husband’s suggestion.

”It was the tail end of the 1970s and everything was fluffy, and I’m blond, and … What are you going to do to look different? John had always thought that that would be a good look for me, just for photography—he’s a great photographer. And we tried it. And he said, ‘Why don’t you take these pictures into Blake and see if he’ll go for it. It would be really good for the part, so you don’t look ordinary,’” she told Interview Magazine.

She lost her husband in 1998 and later on get involved with the former “Sex and the City” star and actor John Corbett, 59 at the age of 63.

“We enjoy each other’s company; we make each other laugh. After 15 years we still hold hands; we still have barbecues with friends a couple of times a week,” Bo says.

They live happily in California and have the best moment of their lives.
