Tragic End: 9-Year-Old Non-Verbal Girl Jenny Din Found Dead in Kentucky Pond
The heartbreaking news out of Kentucky is that 9-year-old Jenny Din, who went missing from her home in Florence last Friday, has been found. Sadly, she was located deceased in a pond close to where she lived.
Jenny, who has autism and is non-verbal, wandered out of her house around 5 p.m. on March 13 without any shoes on. She was last spotted walking along MacIntosh Lane, dressed in a mint-blue jacket and pink headphones, with pierced ears. Standing at just 4 feet 4 inches and weighing about 53 pounds, she has brown hair and brown eyes.

Authorities quickly issued an IAN alert — that’s Kentucky’s special system for missing kids with autism or similar challenges who might be in danger. It was named after another young boy, Ian Sousis, who tragically passed away a few years back. The family felt she might have been looking for a warm, sheltered spot to hide, so they asked everyone to check things like sheds, cars, under decks, or any enclosed areas where a child could try to stay warm.
A huge search kicked off right away, involving the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police, volunteers, and even teams from neighboring areas. It went on for more than 25 hours. Then, around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, the Hamilton County Underwater Search and Recovery Unit found her in the pond. Her family was notified after her identity was confirmed.

This is devastating — everyone was hoping for a safe return, but it ended in the worst way possible. My thoughts go out to her family and the community that came together to try and bring her home.
If anyone has more details or questions about this, feel free to ask — it’s a tough story.
