Melania Trump’s Intimate Phone Call with Donald Steals the Spotlight in New Documentary Trailer

Just days ago, the first trailer dropped for Melania Trump’s upcoming documentary, and it’s already got people talking. The film, simply called Melania, gives a rare peek into her world during those hectic 20 days right before Donald Trump’s second inauguration back in January 2025.

It all started when Melania, inspired by the huge success of her memoir, decided she wanted to share even more of her story on the big screen. She chatted about it on Fox & Friends earlier this year, saying her life is so full and busy that folks would love to see what really goes on behind the scenes—the responsibilities, the day-to-day stuff that most people never get a glimpse of.

Amazon MGM Studios snapped up the project in a big deal reportedly worth around $40 million, which includes this feature film plus a follow-up docuseries. Directed by Brett Ratner, it’s set to hit theaters worldwide on January 30, 2026, before heading to Prime Video later.

The trailer itself is glamorous and intriguing, showing Melania boarding her private jet, handling meetings in New York and Florida, and even a gorgeous shot of her elegant black-and-white inaugural ball gown. There are sweeter moments too, like family time with her son Barron and her father.

But the part that’s really catching everyone’s attention is a private phone call between Melania and Donald, filmed from the luxurious penthouse at Trump Tower. She’s on the line saying, “Hi, Mr. President. Congratulations.” Donald sounds excited, asking, “Did you watch it?” And Melania calmly replies, “I did not. Yeah, I will see it on the news.”

It’s a small, candid exchange that feels surprisingly relatable, hinting at their dynamic when the cameras aren’t rolling (or at least, when they think they’re not). The whole thing wraps with the tagline “Witness history in the making,” and it’s clear this is Melania’s chance to tell her side in her own way. Fans are buzzing about how poised and in control she looks throughout—juggling family, philanthropy, and the massive White House transition. If the trailer is anything to go by, the full film promises some truly exclusive insights into one of the most private figures in American politics.
