The ultimate sacrifice: In loving memory of Jennifer Michelle Lake

Jennifer lake was a student at Pocatello High School, and her age was only 16. Severe headaches started suddenly to her and she knew there is something wrong. Therefore she decided to visit a family doctor and go through some proper checkups.

Her doctor recommended MRI and that’s how she got to know that she has a tumor in her brain. That obviously was the most shocking news for a teenager. She thought she will lead a careless and happy life. But here her life had turned.

Jennifer was told by doctors that she can have a chance of slim life if she goes through chemotherapy. Also, they told that if she agrees to it she can never become a mother. ”Jenni just flat out asked them if she was going to die,” said her father, Mike Lake, a truck driver from Rexburg, north of Pocatello.

‘We were told that she couldn’t get pregnant, so we didn’t worry about it,’ her boyfriend Nathan, 19, said.

It was nothing less than a miracle when the couple expected a baby and it was the biggest dream of Jennifer to become a mother. But the situation was that if she agrees to keep her pregnancy she had to avoid chemo.

The brave lady decided to deliver the baby and ignore chemotherapy. Although it put her life at higher risk she agreed. Jennifer’s mom, Diana Phillips, recalled the day of her grandchild’s birth and said how her daughter grabbed the midwife’s hand and whispered: “I’m done, I did what I was supposed to. My baby is going to get here safe!”

Firstly the doctors had informed her and her family the tumor is about 2 centimeters wide. But when she went through other tests it was revealed that it was even worse and bigger. Unfortunately, cancer spread to other parts of her body as well.

she only had six days to spend with her bundle of joy in the comfort of her home. The moment she died, little Chad was in her arms.

Jennifer was released from the hospital after six days of her baby’s birth. Jennifer proved the real relationship and love between mother and child. But the little angel was left alone
