The wedding dress that left everyone speechless

Planning a wedding is one of the hardest things to do especially when theirs no helping hands. It’s a journey filled with both pains, laughter, tears, and hope. When I had a wedding to plan the previous year, I singlehandedly took care of the catering, decorations, seatings, and the wedding dress. It was a trying moment as at some points when the stress becomes too much I always felt like calling it quits.

In the end, the wedding happened with a few people around and all I can say is that it was one of the happiest moments of my life.

Kristen Mundell’s wedding had few people in attendance even though she could have liked a large hall filled with people, but her friends made sure it was a great day for her.

Kristen made sure the day was a great day for her, but something or someone was missing no matter how she tried not to feel it, her father. The wedding was held at Kelley Farm in Bonney Lake, Washington in 2015.

Kristen’s father Kent Mundell is a cop who died on duty. 6 years earlier he got a domestic violence call and he got shot in the process and died seven days later.

According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, Kent had served in the police department for 10 years and was an exemplary officer.

His loss was felt throughout the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, and the community. Most of all, his family experienced a devastating sadness that is still being felt to this day.

When the wedding ceremony was concluded, they headed for the reception and she planned it with the role his father could have done. “Any wedding is a big deal, and not having my dad there was a lot harder for all of us,” Kristen told KOMO.

The wedding had special seating for those in attendance, with one chair reserved for Kent. “It’s hard realizing it’s been almost six years and he’s not going to be there and that chair,” she said. “It’s his chair and he’s there, but he’s not. It meant a lot knowing that we were able to save a spot for him and knowing that I felt him there I knew he was there.”

She honored her father’s profession by tying a blue ribbon around her wedding dress as it represented the police force and choose to have a daughter-father dance with Detective Don Jones. This left many tears falling. No eyes were dry in the room.

Kristen’s wedding will always remain a tribute to her father and we hope he’s resting in peace.
